# Ellenote

> Ellenote is a local Markdown editor for long notes, manuscripts, and work documents. The file stays plain Markdown on your computer. Mac and Windows. One-time license, A$29.99.

Ellenote is for people who write real documents and want the page to look finished. Syntax still works as shortcuts. There is no account for notes, and Ellenote does not upload them.

The trial lasts 15 days and includes the built-in themes and type presets. Colour themes you name yourself need a license. After the trial, editing and saving stay available, with Paper, Graphite & Ivory, Manuscript, and Modern. The license adds the other themes, type presets, and diagram colours, plus export to PDF, HTML, and Word, version history, and document import. One person, up to 3 devices, Mac and Windows.

Ellenote does not run a sync service. It can link a note, embed a section, and list backlinks. It does not have a plugin catalog or a graph view.
